Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to perform repairs and maintenance on waste pickup trucks and support equipment while focusing on safety and customer service. You will run diagnostics, work with the team to meet company goals, and uphold factory and industry standards.

The role requires 2+ years’ diesel mechanic experience, the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and strong reading/writing skills. ASE certification is a plus; occasional weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Excellent reading and writing skills.
• ASE Diesel Certification an asset.

Responsibilities

• Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests.
• Perform minor and major repairs on waste pick‑up trucks and support equipment.
• Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and install component upgrades.
• Conduct regular service maintenance: tire rotation and oil changes.
• Verify performance with test drives and adjust controls as needed.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle requirements.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of vehicles; keep records of services.
