Job summary

Dixie Tech in St. George, Utah, seeks an experienced Diesel Technology instructor to lead the Diesel Technology and Heavy Equipment programs.

The role requires creating engaging classroom and lab experiences that prepare students for industry certification and employment. You will develop curricula, align syllabi with standards, supervise labs, and collaborate with industry partners and the program director.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in industry.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or Industry-Recognized Certificates.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to sit, stand, lift, bend, and move items weighing 25 pounds or less; follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and deliver syllabi, curriculum, lesson plans, and hands-on lab experiences aligned with industry standards and current technology.
• Establish clear course objectives and competencies; ensure syllabi align with module sign-offs in Northstar.
• Maintain a structured, safe, professional classroom/lab environment prepared daily for instruction.
• Assign and grade coursework in a timely manner; structure courses in Canvas.
• Design, coordinate, and assess work-based learning experiences; invite industry professionals for specialized instruction.
• Stay current on industry trends and adjust curriculum accordingly.
• Observe, evaluate, and document student performance and behavior; provide feedback and involve Student Services as needed.
• Support student retention, completion, licensure, and job placement; keep records current in Northstar.
• Meet or exceed performance metrics set by COE and the VP of Instruction; maintain FERPA compliance.
• Partner with admissions and recruiters to fill cohorts; help develop admissions standards to support student success.
• Recruit, train, and support adjunct instructors; collaborate with program director and instructional team.
• Build and maintain industry partnerships to support student employment outcomes.
• Assist the program director with budget oversight and inventory of supplies/equipment.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and continuously improve teaching skills and technical knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
