Job summary

Cecil College's Workforce Development & Business Solutions Department seeks a Diesel Technology Instructor to deliver hands-on, industry-aligned training for motivated students. You will teach diesel repair and maintenance, assess progress, and mentor learners in a shop environment.

The role emphasizes safety oversight, real-world skills, and working evenings 2x per week for 6 hours. ASE certification in medium/heavy-duty diesel equipment is required; teaching experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• At least five (5) years of related practical work experience and demonstrated skills in diesel vehicle maintenance, repairs and diagnostic tools.
• ASE Certifications in medium and heavy-duty diesel equipment.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Excellent people skills.
• Self-starter, creative problem-solver with good judgment and strong customer service.

Responsibilities

• Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Teach diesel repair and maintenance to industry standards using adult-learning methods.
• Student Assessment & Guidance: Instruct, evaluate, mentor students; administer tests; track attendance and performance; provide feedback.
• Safety & Equipment Oversight: Supervise students in safe use of tools and shop equipment.
