Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Glen Burnie, MD is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee. You’ll be paid during on-the-job training to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician, with a 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm second shift and Monday–Friday schedule.

No experience is required to start; you’ll receive paid training, full benefits after 30 days, 80 hours PTO in year one, a 401(k) match, tuition repayment options, and a chance to grow in a safety‑driven, state‑of‑the‑art shop.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude to learn equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into/out of yard and wash bay; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles; record fuel activity and maintain inventories.
• Perform multi-point inspections as required by company policies and procedures.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and assist with facility maintenance.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
