Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Minneapolis, Minnesota is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee, offering on-the-job training, weekly pay, and full benefits. You will train to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician with opportunities for pay increases as you progress through the trainee program.

No experience required; first shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; paid training; medical, dental, vision after 30 days; PTO from day 1; 401(k) with company match; PPE and boot allowance; tuition repayment options.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery preferred.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivered to rental shop.
• Wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles properly while adhering to shop safety policies and procedures; record fuel activity and maintain inventories.
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units as required by company policies and procedures; check tire pressure, fluids, lights, and report issues to shop.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments (hands-on and online).
• Participate in service island training and bay tool training as part of progression.
