Ryder System, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician Trainee in Davenport, IA. This entry-level role offers on-the-job training, paid during training, and opportunities to advance within a state-of-the-art facility working on heavy-duty diesel engines.

You will learn through a structured program, with second-shift hours, tool reimbursements, and comprehensive benefits after probation. No prior experience is required, and Veterans are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one (1) year mechanical experience working with, and maintaining, diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• Work independently and as a team member.
• Represent Ryder professionally to customers and employees.
• Good time management and priority setting.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or delivery area.
• Perform multi-point inspections on inbound units as required by policy.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies.
• Attend and complete Technician Training Development Program requirements.
• Perform maintenance tasks and use shop tools safely and effectively.
