Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Diesel Tech Trainee in Taylor, Michigan. You will receive on-the-job paid training to become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician, with weekly pay and comprehensive benefits. The role operates on a second shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm), Monday–Friday, with no weekends.

Prior experience is not required, and CDL-Eligibility will be supported. You will join a team dedicated to safety, quality, and customer service, with opportunities for growth, tuition assistance, and competitive

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery.
• Ability to troubleshoot, work independently and as a team.
• Professional representation of Ryder.
• Time management and attendance.

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop; fuel diesel and other vehicles properly while following safety policies.
• Perform multi-point inspection on inbound units per company policies; check tires, fluids, lights, and report issues.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and perform minor facility maintenance.
• Participate in Technician Training Development Program: Service Island Training, Technician I/II Training, and related hands-on tasks.
