Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Allentown, PA is seeking a Diesel Technician Trainee to train and become a Ryder Diesel Mechanic Technician. The role offers on-the-job paid training, Monday–Friday schedule with weekends off and second shift hours (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm).

Benefits include medical/dental/vision after 30 days and 80 hours PTO in the first year. No prior experience is needed; qualifications include a HS diploma, basic English proficiency, and a willingness to learn diesel systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Zero to one year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills.
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn equipment maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot and work independently or in a team.
• CDL Class A preferred (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Move heavy duty vehicles and assist in service shop and yard operations.
• Perform multi-point inspections and report issues to shop.
• Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies.
• Participate in Technician Training Development Program requirements.
• Practice safety and maintain shop cleanliness and organization.
