Job summary

FIRST STUDENT MANAGEMENT LLC is seeking a Diesel Technician in Belmont, NH to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability for students. The role supports Tamworth, Inter-Lakes, Moultonborough, and Sandwich districts and offers a Monday–Friday day shift.

Pay ranges from $32.00 to $34.00 per hour based on experience, with company-paid ASE testing and CDL training, plus medical/dental/vision, 401(k) retirement plan with match, life insurance, disability benefits, paid holidays

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3+ years of diesel, fleet, bus, truck, heavy equipment, or automotive maintenance experience.
• Strong vehicle diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment (company-paid training).
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set required.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (training, testing, and pay increases provided).
• Strong computer and documentation skills.
• School bus, fleet, transit, or heavy truck experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance.
• Repair and inspect brake systems.
• Perform engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, drivetrain repairs, transmission repairs, clutch repairs, and other maintenance activities.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Complete work orders accurately and maintain service documentation.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
• Follow all company safety and maintenance procedures.
