First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician for the Manchester, NH area to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability. This role supports a nearby shop with a focus on independent diagnostics and timely repairs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of diesel, fleet, heavy equipment, bus, truck, or automotive maintenance experience.
• Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with engine, drivetrain, suspension, brake, electrical, and hydraulic repairs.
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues.
• School bus, transit, fleet, heavy truck, municipal, or diesel equipment experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days.
• Must possess a mechanic's tool set and be willing to ASE-certified.
• Strong computer and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance.
• Repair and inspect brake systems.
• Perform engine tune-ups, suspension, drivetrain, transmission, and clutch repairs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders and maintain maintenance records.
• Assist with mobile emergency repairs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
