Job summary

First Student is hiring a Diesel Technician to support our shop serving multiple school districts in ME. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule from 12:00PM to 8:30PM with a $36.00 per hour wage set by the union contract.

Responsibilities include vehicle maintenance, brake and engine work, DOT-compliant inspections, and accurate maintenance documentation. Benefits cover medical, dental, vision, 401(k), holidays, and advancement opportunities across North America.

Qualifications

• Advanced mechanical aptitude and repair skills.
• DOT safety and inspection knowledge.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Willingness to obtain ASE certification.

Responsibilities

• Ensure vehicles are maintained safely and in compliance with DOT and company standards.
• Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Complete brake repairs and inspections.
• Perform engine diagnostics, tune-ups, suspension work, drivetrain repairs, and transmission work.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and annual inspections.
• Complete repair orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
• Assist with mobile or emergency repairs when needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Support the overall reliability and safety of the fleet serving our school districts.
