Job summary

The Dies el Technician at Casella Waste maintains diesel equipment, completes inspections and preventive maintenance, and corrects vehicle deficiencies to ensure safety and customer service. Apprenticeship pathways offer advancement and merit increases within Casella's Career Pathways.

Responsibilities include performing safety-compliant maintenance, diagnostics, lockout/tagout, and detailed record-keeping.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be at least 18 years old with a valid Class A, B, or C Driver’s license.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Minimum 1 year of experience inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing trucks and stationary equipment.
Excellent verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
Ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
Able to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting heavy components, crouching, and prolonged standing.
Successful completion of pre-employment testing including a drug screen.

Responsibilities

Performs maintenance tasks based on driver pre and post trip inspections in a timely manner or as directed by maintenance manager.
Maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventative maintenance requirements and makes appropriate corrections when needed.
Troubleshoots reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
Performs accurate lockout/tagout procedures.
Runs diagnostic tests on vehicles and analyzes the results to problem solve; test drive vehicles to diagnose malfunctions when necessary.
Participates in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales and services.
