Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Knoxville, TN to maintain and repair heavy‑duty vehicles. The role offers weekly pay, comprehensive benefits after 30 days, and diverse bonuses.

Expect a first shift schedule and valid CDL involvement as part of advancement and required duties. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or technical certification, basic tools, and diesel repair aptitude.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools required for daily work.
• Demonstrated aptitude in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Two years or more of related classroom training and work experience preferred.
• Valid CDL Class A preferred; CDL within 6 months required to become Ryder employee.
• Must pass Ryder drug test and DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties as assigned.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools.
• Identifies root cause and performs necessary repairs.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT, and MOT guidelines.
• Provides additional support duties to assist operations.
