Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification or Postsecondary degree preferred.
• Basic tools required.
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in mechanical repair is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Pass Ryder Drug Test, a DOT physical, a road test, and a background check from previous employers for last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT and other guidelines.
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations.
