Job summary

Ryder System in Akron, Ohio is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician to service heavy-duty vehicles with state-of-the-art diagnostics and tools. Join a stable company that values your expertise and offers weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Shift: second, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm, Monday to Friday with weekends off. Pay is $27.00 per hour, plus a signing bonus of $1,250 at 30 days and another at 90 days, plus quarterly and certification bonuses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Routine preventative maintenance work including oil changes, brakes and tires.
• Two (2) years or more of classroom training and related work experience preferred.
• CDL CLASS A preferred; ability to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance and inspections.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems with diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Performs facility maintenance duties as needed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the issue.
• Uses Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Adheres to safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.
• Supports operations with additional duties as required.
