Job summary

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Hagerstown, MD to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicles. The role offers a stable career path with weekly pay and comprehensive benefits, including medical/dental/vision after 30 days and PTO from day one.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, second shift 3:00pm–11:30pm, with tools and PPE provided. Certifications and training opportunities are supported, along with tuition repayment and 401(k) matching.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification preferred.
• Basic tools, required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance.
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs.
• Performs preventive maintenance.
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools when applicable.
• Identifies root cause of basic failures and performs repairs as required.
• Replaces defective components as instructed.
• Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint.
• Follows Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Complies with safety, DOT, MOT and corporate guidelines.
