Diesel Technician/Mechanic - Mobile Refrigeration (Thermo-King/Carrier)

Position Summary: A Penske Refrigeration Technician will diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment, focusing on refrigeration units for commercial trucks and trailers.

Major Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance on refrigeration units such as Carrier and Thermo King systems.
• Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic tools.
• Read complex schematics related to refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document on repair orders.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of the work area.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs.
• Use hand and power tools effectively.
• Support preventative maintenance tasks.
• Inspect parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 years of practical experience in tractor trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Vocational/Technical training or certification preferred.
• Specialized training in refrigeration components.
• ASE Certification, 608/609 certifications, and CDL with air brake certification preferred.
• Proficiency with necessary tools and basic computer skills.
• Ability to work in non-climate controlled environments.
• Compliance with safety policies and DOT regulations.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible schedules.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting.
• Use of hands for routine tasks.
• Ability to work safely at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally.

Compensation: $36.24/hr
