Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level Decatur, Alabama Apply Now

The working shift is to be determined, either 1st or 2nd shift, including weekends.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for customers
• Using Penske’s tools to log, research, and complete repairs, including diagnostics
• Performing preventative maintenance such as tire rotations, lubrication, electrical repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel vehicles
• Partnering with your manager to learn new skills through training and coaching
• Completing other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification preferred
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred)
• Problem-solving skills and comfort with tools
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Teamwork and outdoor work ability
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to follow instructions and comply with safety policies
• Must adhere to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety standards
• Regular attendance is essential
• Must maintain a current driver qualification file, including MVR, DOT Physical, and Safety Performance History; CDL holders require DOT drug screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review
• Willingness to work scheduled hours, pass background checks, drug screens, and physicals, and travel within the region for training

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent movement, standing, walking, climbing, bending, sitting
• Manual dexterity for tool operation
• Ability to work safely at heights and in all weather conditions
• Good vision and hearing for safety
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and occasionally up to 100lbs
