Job summary

The Service Company in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician Level 2. You will diagnose and repair complex air/HVAC/steering systems, install bolt-on components, and perform DOT inspections. This is a growth-focused role with development paths inside a family-owned shop since 1978.

We value proactive problem-solving, clear communication, and the ability to manage time in a busy shop. CDL is a plus and there is a strong emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of hands-on work on heavy-duty trucks.
• Valid driver's license and High School diploma (or equivalent). CDL is a plus.
• Proactive problem-solver with clear communication and good time management.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair advanced air systems (compressors, dryers, valves), HVAC systems, and steering components.
• Bolt-on components such as manifolds, turbos, water pumps, fan drives, and air compressors.
• Perform Federal DOT inspections and accurate alignments using shop equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues: starting and charging components (alternators, batteries, starters).
• Service primary systems: brakes, wheel-end assemblies, drivelines, suspensions, tire service.

We're hiring an experienced Diesel Technician at our Columbus location to join a crew that takes pride in the work and looks out for each other. If you've got a couple of years of wrench time and you're ready to grow - we want to talk.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Independent Wrenching: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair advanced air systems (compressors, dryers, valves), HVAC systems, and steering components.
• Bolt-On Components: Manifolds, turbos, water pumps, fan drives, and air compressors.
• Inspections & Alignments: Federal DOT inspections and accurate alignments using our shop equipment.
• Electrical Troubleshooting: Tracking down starting and charging issues - alternators, batteries, starters.
• Primary Systems: Brakes, wheel-end assemblies, drivelines, suspensions, and tire service.

What You Bring:

• Experience: At least 2 years of hands-on work on heavy-duty trucks.
• Technical Skills for L2: Experience with brakes, wheel ends, suspension, driveline, air systems, electrical, HVAC, steering, and bolt-on engine components.
• Credentials: Valid driver's license and a High School diploma (or equivalent). CDL is a plus.
• The Right Mindset: Proactive problem-solver, takes pride in the work, communicates clearly, manages time well.
• Physical Capability: Standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs in a busy shop environment.
