Job Description

Northwest Equipment Sales, a Heavy-Duty Truck & Trailer Dealership (Mack, Volvo, Kalmar Ottawa, and Cummins), is seeking to hire a Full-Time Diesel Technician for its facility in Boise, Idaho. Candidates must have their own tools and good communication skills. At least one year of experience is required; experience with various types of equipment is a plus. A clean driving record is also necessary. Wages are $20.00 - $40.00 per hour, based on experience, knowledge, and skill level. Having a current CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and repair work on trucks as listed on repair orders assigned by the Shop Foreman.
  • Inspect trucks to diagnose concerns and troubleshoot with proper equipment.
  • Follow established guidelines for proper repair and maintenance.
  • Consult service literature as needed.
  • Inform Shop Foreman of any additional repairs or maintenance required.
  • Complete parts requisitions and document work performed.
  • Tag and secure warranty parts according to policy.
  • Attend training classes and stay updated with industry standards.
  • Operate shop equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Increase customer satisfaction by ensuring repairs are done correctly the first time.
  • Maintain a personal set of hand tools.
  • Consult warranty department for proper repair procedures and parts for warranty repairs and recalls.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least two years of training, education, or experience in truck repair or related fields
  • Valid state driver’s license and set of hand tools
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of maintenance principles and methods
  • Knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in truck repair

Performance Standards:

  1. No complaints from customers regarding treatment.
  2. Unapplied time does not exceed a specified number of hours per month.
  3. Number of comeback repairs remains below a set threshold per 100 repair orders.
  4. Warranty rejection rate due to improper or unnecessary repairs remains below a specified percentage.
  5. Maintain efficiency and productivity ratings at or above set percentages.
