Job summary

Promotive is seeking a Light & Medium Diesel Technician in Schaumburg, IL. The role offers flat-rate pay of $25-$45 per flagged hour with expected annual earnings of $70,000-$110,000 and a minimum 30-hour weekly guarantee.

Workload averages 30% diagnostics and 70% maintenance, using shop tools in a structured team setting. Benefits include weekly pay, 401(k) with 3% match, medical/dental/vision, paid time off, holidays, and training with ASE reimbursement.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of automotive, diesel, fleet, or related technician experience.
• Intermediate to advanced diagnostics including drivability and electrical.
• Experience with domestic diesel/ light- to medium-duty vehicles.
• Experience with Isuzu, Peterbilt, Dodge, Ford, Chevrolet, Freightliner, or Hino preferred.
• Must provide personal technician tools; shop provides scan tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair light- and medium-duty diesel, domestic, and fleet vehicles.
• Workload: ~30% diagnostics, ~70% maintenance.
• Conduct drivability and electrical diagnostics using shop tools.
• Perform general repairs, maintenance, inspections, and R&R work.
• Service brakes and suspension components, including kingpins.
• Tire inspections, rotations, balancing, and related services.
• Wheel alignments and steering/suspension work.
• Diagnose and repair items like box lights and lift gates.
