Job summary

Vanguard Truck Centers is seeking a Mobile Diesel Technician in Tucson to diagnose and repair diesel trucks and equipment, ensuring repairs meet factory standards and dealership guidelines.

You will coordinate with parts and service teams, document work performed, and participate in manufacturer-sponsored training. Safety footwear is required and background screening is a prerequisite for employment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years heavy truck experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to meet insurability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel trucks or equipment as per repair orders and factory standards.
  • Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road test vehicles when required or refer to test technician.
  • Supervise apprentices as assigned and stay current with manufacturer updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES For Diesel Technicians
  • Diesel Technicians performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair on diesel Trucks or equipment.
  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Diesel Technician will documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
  • Diesel Technician will participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises work of any apprentice diesel technicians as assigned.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean for your safety and safety of other diesel technicians.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years heavy truck experience preferred
  • Valid Driver's License (required)
  • Ability to meet insurability requirements

Safety shoes are required on day one of employment. Employees must wear approved safety footwear at all times while working in designated shop and service areas- Background screening is a mandatory prerequisite for employment consideration.
