United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) in New Jersey to perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment, ensuring safety and professionalism. The role offers opportunities for advancement within the Service Department and leadership paths.

Requirements include a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and 3–5 years of hands-on repair experience. You will document work, travel to customer sites when needed, and support teammates with training and parts delivery.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Assist in training lower level technicians.
• Maintain work orders and documentation daily.
• Travel to customer sites for service; keep vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties as needed.
