Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III) to perform maintenance and repairs on a range of rental equipment. You’ll work safely on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, with opportunities for growth into higher service levels and leadership roles.

The role requires a HS diploma, a valid license, 3–5 years’ field experience, and owning the necessary tools. You’ll also provide excellent customer service and teamwork at customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
• Strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines.
• Must own tools applicable to position.
• Excellent customer service, teamwork and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work orders daily.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance when required; keep service vehicle clean.
• Assist with pickup and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
