Job description

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs, including testing and adjusting systems such as steering, electrical, cooling, brakes, drive trains, suspensions, power steering, clutches, transmissions, engines, and related components, in accordance with all relevant guidelines. Test-drive vehicles post-repair to ensure issues are resolved.
  2. Arrange for and obtain inspections and approvals for major repairs before vehicle release.
  3. Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment compliant with all safety guidelines.
  4. Identify and report additional necessary maintenance or repairs, including those requiring higher qualification levels.
  5. Accurately record time, parts used, and repairs conducted.
  6. Perform road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  7. Report unsafe maintenance conditions or vehicle abuse to Lead Technician.
  8. Uphold high ethical standards and integrity; report suspicious or inappropriate behavior.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Minimum of five years of Med/Heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
  2. Proficiency in diagnostics, electrical systems, and AC.
  3. Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
  4. Experience with fleet maintenance, familiar with diesel and gasoline systems.
  5. Possession of recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
  6. Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  7. Valid applicable state license; CDL preferred. Company offers free training for mechanics.
  8. ASE Certification is desirable but not required.
  9. Position qualifies for Ohio School Employee Retirement Service (SERs).
  10. Shop located in Elmwood / St. Bernard suburb.
