Qualifications

  • Five years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience required.
  • Strong diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills are essential.
  • Valid state license preferred; ASE Certification is a plus.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Diagnoses malfunctions and performs vehicle repairs (e.g., adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, and oil, temperature, gas regulating components, adjust/test/rebuild engines, etc.) in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial, and local guidelines. Test-drives vehicles to ensure repairs resolve the issues.
  • Arranges for and obtains necessary inspections and approvals for all major repairs before releasing vehicles from maintenance.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and efficient work environment, ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines.
  • Identifies and reports additional maintenance or repairs needed during assigned tasks, including those requiring higher qualification levels.
  • Records time, parts used, and repairs conducted accurately.
  • Performs road calls and on-the-road repairs as assigned.
  • Advises Lead Technician of unsafe conditions or vehicle abuse.
  • Exhibits high ethical standards and integrity; reports suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of medium/heavy truck fleet mechanic repair experience.
  • Strong diagnostic, electrical, and AC skills.
  • Technical knowledge of major vehicle systems and diesel equipment.
  • Experience with fleet maintenance and familiarity with diesel and gasoline systems.
  • Possession of the recommended minimum hand tools for a Diesel Technician.
  • Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Valid applicable state license (CDL preferred). Company offers free training for mechanics.
  • ASE Certification is desirable but not required.
  • Position qualifies for Ohio School Employee Retirement Service (SERs).
  • Shop located in Elmwood / St. Bernard area.
