Job summary

Sunroad Auto in San Diego is seeking a Diesel Technician to inspect, repair, and maintain diesel engines and components for our fleet of trucks and vehicles. You will work with customers and uphold high ethical standards.

Responsibilities include diagnosing engines, performing maintenance, replacing worn parts, and using timing lights and scan tools. A California driver's license and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid California driver’s license within 10 days following date of hire.
• Ability to regularly lift 30 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Must comply with federal, state and local regulations including OSHA policies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and related components.
• Troubleshoot engine performance issues.
• Replace and repair worn parts and components including pistons, rings, bearings, seals and valves.
• Perform preventative maintenance and tune-ups on diesel engines.
• Use timing lights, compression testers and scan tools to diagnose and repair engines.
• Repair and adjust fuel injectors, fuel lines and fuel pumps.
• Inspect and test electrical and electronic systems.
• Rebuild engines and other components as necessary.
• Install and adjust engine components and systems.
• Maintain records of maintenance and repair work performed.
• Monitor and adjust engine performance parameters such as fuel pressure and timing.
• Conduct diagnostic tests with computerized equipment.
