Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Field Diesel Mechanic (Service Tech III - Field Service) to maintain and repair a range of complex rental equipment. You will travel to customer sites, document work, and support the service team with training and logistics.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of repair experience, a valid driver’s license, and the tools needed for the role. The position emphasizes safety, customer service, and collaboration within the Service Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• 3–5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment.
• Own tools applicable to position.
• Strong mechanical background and engine knowledge.
• Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on complex rental equipment (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, diesel).
• Travel to customer job sites for service and repair; keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist in training lower level technicians as needed.
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation (work orders) daily.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
