Job summary

Penske is hiring a Diesel Technician Mechanic III entry level for the 3rd shift at our Albany location. You will perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on a broad fleet, logging repairs with Penske tools and diagnostics.

This role offers growth and solid training within a global transportation solutions company. You should have mechanical aptitude, 1–2 years in automotive or diesel repair preferred, and strong customer service and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• 1-2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and outside.
• Basic computer skills.
• DOT/OSHA safety compliance knowledge and Penske safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and ensure vehicles are safe for customers.
• Log, research and complete repairs using Penske tools and technologies, including basic vehicle diagnostics.
• Perform preventative maintenance repairs—like replacing or rotating tires—and complete vehicle component lubrication and replacement, some electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles.
• Partner with your manager to learn new skills using Penske’s technician training and hands-on coaching.
• Work on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.
