Job summary

First Student in Racine, WI is hiring a Diesel Technician to maintain and repair school buses, ensuring safety and reliability for students and families in our community.

This full-time, day-shift role runs Monday–Friday from 11:00am to 7:00pm. Pay starts at $31–$35 per hour with potential boosts of up to $2 per hour for ASE tests, plus company-paid CDL Class B training and a strong benefits package.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance or equivalent technical school education and experience
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license required
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days; company-paid training provided
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set to complete duties
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program (training, testing, bonuses provided)
• Strong computer skills
• DOT drug testing per safety-sensitive role

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability
• Diagnose and repair brakes, engines, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions and other components
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections
• Complete work orders accurately
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
