Job summary

Interstate Waste Services, Inc. in the greater New York area is seeking a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel heavy trucks and equipment. PMI and component rebuilds are performed to keep fleets safe and reliable.

Responsibilities include safety checks, maintenance records, and responding to service calls. Candidates should have 3–5+ years as a class A or B mechanic and experience with fleet maintenance software;

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years as a class A or B mechanic.
• Computer diagnostic experience required.
• Experience in waste management or heavy equipment is a plus.
• Trade school or similar training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on diesel trucks and equipment.
• Performs preventive maintenance inspection and troubleshoots components for repair or replacement.
• Maintains accurate records and uses fleet maintenance software for parts and repair times.
• Conducts safety checks and supports service calls for breakdowns.
• Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
