Job summary

A family-owned dealership in Muskegon is looking for a Diesel Technician to join its team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of diesel repair experience, excellent diagnostic skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in diesel repair.
• Obtain and maintain State of Michigan HDT repair certifications.
• ASE certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to all technicians.
• Diagnose and repair various vehicle systems.
• Communicate with service advisors on required additional work.
• Engage with external manufacturers and warranty contacts to maximize reimbursement of services
• Receive annual training from Navistar & Cummins
• Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts
• Save and tag parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer
• Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended
• Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time
• Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order
• Road test vehicles when required
• Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins
• Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor
• Ensure that vehicle is kept clean and notify service advisor immediately of any changes to the vehicle's appearance or condition
• Keep shop area neat and clean
• Maintain and be accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals, returning them to the proper place and in the same condition as when received
• Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know
• Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner
• Report any safety issues immediately to management
• Perform other tasks as assigned
