Job summary

NEXTRAN TRUCK CENTERS is seeking a Diesel Technician to diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty trucks. You will inspect, disassemble, repair, and reassemble components, perform preventive maintenance, and document work thoroughly.

Preference given to candidates with 3–5 years of experience, a valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills for diagnostics and research. CDL is a plus, with a strong customer-focused mindset throughout the role.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in heavy/medium-duty truck repair preferred.
  • CDL a plus is favorable.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Computer experience to perform diagnostics and research.
  • Basic computer and Internet skills are expected.
  • H.S. Diploma; college or technical training is a plus but not required.
  • Customer-focused mindset preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, driveshafts, axles, and engines.
  • Disassemble and re-assemble components as needed.
  • Perform preventive maintenance with quality and cost-conscious care.
  • Communicate effectively with parts department and service advisor.
  • Write detailed work notes and documentation for all work performed.
  • Safely move trucks/equipment to/from shop and yard areas.

The Diesel Technician is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customer's medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks.

As a Diesel Technician, you are a valued member of our team, performing:

  • Accurate diagnosis and essential repair of commercial vehicle transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, driveshafts, axles, engines, etc.
  • Disassembly and re-assembly of various parts, components, and systems.
  • Quality and cost-effective preventive maintenance
  • Effective communication with the parts department and the service advisor
  • Writing detailed work notes and documentation of all work performed
  • Safe movement of trucks/equipment to/from shop and yard area

Preferred Candidates have the following:

  • Prior experience with commercial vehicle repair; prefer 3-5 years' experience
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record, CDL a plus
  • Computer experience necessary to perform diagnostics and research
  • Basic computer and Internet skills
  • H.S. Diploma; College or Technical training preferred, but not required
  • Customer-focused mindset
