Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Houston, TX.

  • Hourly Pay: $29.55 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: Up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Schedule: Sunday - Thursday
  • Hours: Second Shift 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance like oil changes, brake, and tire work
  • Two or more years of relevant classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred

Note: You must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire, pass Ryder's drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background checks, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct standard vehicle and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic tools
  • Identify root causes and perform necessary repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Assist with facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints
  • Utilize shop management systems and electronic documentation
  • Follow all safety, DOT, and corporate compliance guidelines
  • Support operations as needed, including service island duties
