Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Pass a background check and drug test.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have at least 3 years relevant experience.
• Excellent communication skills and be willing to work as part of a team.
• Have at least basic computer skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Own necessary basic tools.

Responsibilities

• Follow workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance such as lube, filters, inspection, and cleanliness.
• Repair or replace basic engine components and electrics (starter/alternator/battery).
• Diagnose and repair brake systems and related components.
• Inspect and replace drive-line components, transmissions, and clutches (R&R).
• Conduct valve and injector adjustments and basic welding/cutting as needed.
• Communicate status updates and repair decisions to internal customers.
• Complete all franchise mandated training (online and on-site).

Job Overview:

The Diesel Technician will be responsible for performing all tractor and trailer repairing estimation diagnosis and correction following standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Completes routine rebuilds and replacements, makes best value and safety decisions to continue to operate, repair or replace, and performs technical repairs and/or replacement.

Duties & Responsibilities - Diesel Technician:

• Follows workplace and vehicle safety procedures consistently.
• Follows MSDS training and guidelines.
• Able to perform proper Preventive Maintenance - lube, filters, inspection – includes truck appearance, interior and exterior, cab related, safety, security
• Basic electrical – repair and replace starters/alternators/batteries
• Inspect & replace basic engine components
• Proficient at brake diagnostic/repair& replace/adjustments
• Direct/Indirect labor accountability (completing personal paperwork)
• Follow good housekeeping standards
• Inspect & replace drive line components
• Remove and replace transmission and clutch (R&R)
• Advanced and continually upgrading tools
• Valve and injector adjustments
• Remove & replace steering & chassis components
• Basic welding & cutting 20. Fifth wheel service and rebuild/ king pin wear
• Remove & replace all engines
• Diagnostic Computer Skills
• Citation corrections/ sign off
• May perform accident repairs on tractors or trailers
• Responsible for completing all franchise mandated training (online and on site -travel may be required)
• Must be able to communicate with internal customers (i.e. other shop associates, drivers, other maintenance shops, etc.) on such things as stances, wait times, reasons for repair decisions and status updates.
• Perform any other duties as required.
