Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking a skilled Service Technician to repair and maintain our customers' medium and heavy-duty trucks. You will diagnose issues, perform preventative maintenance, and complete detailed repair notes.

You will communicate with the parts department for parts, ensure safety compliance, and mentor apprentices while maintaining tools and orderly workspaces.

Qualifications

• Diagnose causes of truck malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on medium & heavy-duty trucks.
• Complete repair notes and document work performed for each order.
• Coordinate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs repair work per repair order with accuracy and efficiency.
• Diagnoses and fixes truck malfunctions and safety issues.
• Communicates repair status to service advisor/dispatcher.
• Saves and tags parts for warranty or customer requests.
• Supervises apprentices as assigned and ensures quality control.
• Maintains dealership tools and keeps the work area orderly.

The Service Technician at Nextran Truck Centers is a skilled position that is responsible for repairing and maintaining our customers Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks. This includes diagnosing issues, preventative maintenance, repairs, disassembly and re-assembly, and writing detailed work notes.

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of malfunctions and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with service advisor/dispatcher immediately on repair updates and or delays.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that vehicle is kept clean. Notifies service advisor/dispatcher immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as when they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
