Job summary

Cummins is seeking a Diesel Technician / Mechanic in Dearborn, MI. This role handles engine repairs, maintenance, and documentation in a service shop while following Cummins safety policies. The candidate will develop certifications and maintain their own tools to support Cummins products.

Requirements include established engine repair experience and Michigan HDT engine certification (or equivalent). A valid local driving permit is favored. Shift is 9am–5pm.

Qualifications

• Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and engine systems.
• Preferred: Apprentice Trained Engine Technician; Michigan HDT Diesel certification.

Responsibilities

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop.
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools.
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles.
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies.

We are looking for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Dearborn, MI.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

• Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
• Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
• Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
• Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
• Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
• Maintain own tools

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

• Completes complex internal engine repairs
• Performs engine overhauls unassisted
• Detailed understanding of the aftertreatment system and components
• Proficient experience with engine diagnostic software

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Must have Michigan State Certification in HDT Engine Repair - Diesel

• This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
• A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
• Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
