Job summary

McGrath Dodge in Cedar Rapids is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered trucks in a busy dealership service department.

You will work on diesel engines, fuel systems, emissions, electrical and drivetrain components, with OEM training and opportunities for career growth. A four-day work week and strong compensation are offered to a skilled technician ready to join a collaborative team.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience as a Diesel Technician, Diesel Mechanic, Automotive Technician, or Heavy-Duty Technician.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
  • Cummins and Ram diesel experience preferred.
  • Strong diagnostic, electrical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of diesel fuel, emissions, cooling, drivetrain, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform repairs accurately and efficiently while maintaining quality standards.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Diesel or manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered trucks and vehicles.
  • Perform diesel engine, fuel system, emissions, electrical, drivetrain, and mechanical repairs.
  • Diagnose drivability concerns using manufacturer diagnostic equipment and procedures.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and recommended services.
  • Inspect vehicles and identify additional maintenance or repair needs.
  • Communicate findings and repair recommendations with Service Advisors.
  • Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and service records.
  • Stay current with OEM training, technology, and certifications.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

About the Opportunity

McGrath Dodge is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to join our Cedar Rapids service team. We’re looking for a skilled technician who is confident diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel trucks and wants to continue developing their career in a busy dealership environment.

This is a great opportunity for a technician with experience in diesel repair, diesel diagnostics, heavy-duty truck repair, automotive repair, or fleet maintenance. Experience working with Ram trucks and Cummins diesel engines is a strong plus.
