Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Shop Supervisor in Kernersville, NC to lead maintenance teams and oversee diesel equipment, forklifts and related assets. You will schedule, mentor, and evaluate technicians, while ensuring safety and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 2 years in fleet maintenance or management, a valid driver’s license, and leadership experience. CDL and ASE certifications are highly valued; shifts may include days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Qualifications

• 2 years of fleet maintenance or management experience required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Associate degree or equivalent related work or military experience preferred.
• Current CDL and ASE Certifications are a plus.
• 2 years of leadership experience required.
• LTL industry experience is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to organize and present information; ability to lead and motivate others.
• Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance employees and contract workers, including hiring, scheduling, work assignments, and promotions where appropriate.
• Observe, mentor, develop and review mechanics and shop staff performance.
• Oversee routine maintenance for class 7 & 8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment per schedules.
• Ensure work orders are completed accurately and promptly.
• Perform safety inspections and prepare safety documentation.
• Minimize equipment downtime and manage shop cost and parts inventory.
• Coordinate with service centers on repairs and required parts.
• Monitor reports to ensure compliance and productivity.
• Support leadership overseeing equipment maintenance at outlying service centers.
• Facilitate JSP job selection/shift bid process for shop staff.
