Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Lead Technician in the Chicago area.

The role oversees shop personnel, orders parts, and ensures proper training and maintenance of Class 7 and 8 diesel equipment, forklifts, and trailing equipment in line with manufacturer and company schedules. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of mechanical experience, a valid driver's license, and FMCSA-qualified brake and vehicle inspections.

Qualifications

• 4 years of related experience or military experience.
• Possess valid driver's license and braking/vehicle inspection qualifications per FMCSA regulations.
• Able to obtain EPA HVAC Refrigerant Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Prior mechanical experience in the automotive industry or skilled trades.
• Willing to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise shop personnel.
• Order parts and manage vendors.
• Ensure technicians receive the required training.
• Perform routine maintenance on class 7&8 diesel equipment, forklifts and trailing equipment per schedules.
• Safely access equipment areas to perform maintenance and inspections.
• Lead adherence to DOT, EPA, Interstate Authority and OSHA rules.
• Repair or rebuild equipment systems or parts.
• Move trailers around the property.
• Operate a hostler in various weather and conditions.
