Job summary

Veolia is seeking a Diesel Shop Assistant to join its North America maintenance team. The role supports maintenance technicians, assists with parts pickup, and moves vehicles between facilities for service and repair.

Responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, repairing pumps and gearboxes, and ensuring a clean, safe work area while adhering to PPE requirements. CDL-A preferred; training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• General maintenance knowledge and ability to learn.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, pump repair, and plumbing preferred.

Job Description

The Diesel Shop Assistant performs a variety of tasks to assist in all aspects of maintenance operations

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

• Assisting other maintenance technicians with day to day tasks
• Going to various locations to pick up or drop off parts for equipment
• Moving vehicles to and from other facilities for routine maintenance
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on equipment
• Perform maintenance on trailers, tractors, tankers and other various equipment
• Be able to rebuild/ Repair pumps and gearboxes
• Keep a clean and pristine work area at all times
• Wear proper PPE as required for the task being performed
• Have the ability to perform minor metal fabrication as needed on equipment
• Be able to utilize Welding equipment and use the appropriate PPE for the task.
• Able to follow directions, prioritize tasks, and work unsupervised at times.
• Utilizing a forklift in standard operations in the maintenance area.
• Have knowledge on hydraulic/PTO systems used on tractors/ Trailers.
• Performs other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Class A CDL (CDL-A) preferred; candidates without a CDL must be willing to obtain
• General knowledge in maintenance
• Strong knowledge ofindustrialelectric,pump repair, forkliftrepairs,and plumbing
• By law, you must be at least 18 years of age
• Safety first mentality.
• Physically capable of manual labor and lifting, up to/exceeding 40 lbs
• Not only a willingness, but ability to learn.
• Manage the workload that is put before you.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Requirements:

• Associate degreefromatwo-year college or technical schoolinarelatedfield
• Knowledgeofhazardousmaterialhandling, and OSHA training.

The successful candidate will be required to pass a physical, drug test, and DEA background check.

Additional Information

Pay starting at $31.00 - $32.00 hourly

In addition, commencing no later than January 1, 2027, benefits package will include participation in an employer sponsored 401(k) plan, to save for retirement.
