Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic for our MHC Kenworth-Denton facility in Denton, TX. This role performs heavy-duty mechanical repairs under general supervision and provides on-the-job training to achieve Service Journeyman status.

Key duties include engine, fuel, electrical, transmission, cooling and brake work, as well as routine maintenance, safety compliance, and collaboration with the Shop Foreman for additional repairs.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Minimum three years hands-on experience or vocational training.
• AC, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector certifications required.
• Must provide necessary tools to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform general mechanical duties and repairs.
• Repair engine, fuel, electrical, transmissions, cooling, brakes and chassis.
• Troubleshoot minor problems and assist with service tasks.
• Attend training sessions and maintain organized workspace.
• Follow safety practices and report needs to Shop Foreman.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy‑duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on the job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
