Job summary

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is seeking a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic to perform heavy-duty mechanical repair under supervision, with on-the-job training toward Service Journeyman status. You will work on engines, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, brakes, and related components.

The role requires safety-conscious technicians, CDL preferred, minimum three years hands-on experience or vocational training, and tools to perform duties.

Qualifications

• CDL preferred.
• Three years of hands-on experience or a vocational training background.
• A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
• Must have the necessary tools to perform responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs general mechanical duties and assists in repairs.
• Experience with engine overhaul, fuel and electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, brakes, and maintenance.
• Works on major components under supervision and conducts troubleshooting.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat, safe work area and proper use of tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman on additional repair needs and follows safety procedures.

Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The role of the Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision, receiving on the job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.

• Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
• Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-up, and general maintenance.
• Works on major components with close supervision.
• Performs trouble shooting on minor problems.
• Attends training sessions and meetings.
• Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
• Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
• Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
