Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt in Dunn, NC is seeking an experienced Diesel Service Technician, Journeyman to join our team. This position performs all functions of a fully qualified heavy‑duty truck repair mechanic under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing heavy‑duty trucks, following safety rules, coordinating parts with the Service Foreman, saving diagnostic data, recording troubleshooting steps, and maintaining a clean workspace while meeting efficiency goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Class A CDL required or ability to obtain.
• Experience in related field preferred but not required.
• Motor Vehicle Record adheres to MVR guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and perform mechanical repairs on heavy‑duty trucks, ensuring tests verify proper repairs.
• Follow safety rules and company policies at all times.
• Inform Service Foreman about parts not available for repairs.
• Download and save all diagnostic data and engine files to the system.
• Record detailed troubleshooting steps and repair results.
• Tag, box, and return warrantable parts to the correct location.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic/mechanical repairs on heavy‑duty truck equipment and related components. Testing when completed to ensure repairs are completed properly.


• Follow safety rules and company policies always.


• Communicate to Service Foreman regarding parts that are not available for repairs.


• Download and save to Paccar Solutions/Decisiv: all pictures, engine files (before and after repair), and diagnostic test used to perform repair.


• Record in detail, the description of all trouble shooting steps and results of repairs made and any other information about the repair.


• Save all warrantable parts. Tag, wash, box and turn in to correct location. Labels the box with repair order number, S/N, customer name and date.


• Maintain a clean and safe work area. Clean and return tools used.


• Advise the following shift's technicians with any special instructions or concerns you found when repairing truck.


• Maintain efficiency and productivity goals set forth by Service Manager.


• Maintain Peterbilt online training percentage of 95%.


• Obtain class A or B CDL and retain during employment.


• Perform other duties and repairs as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Should possess a High School diploma.


• A college degree or a certificate or degree from a trade school is preferred, but not required.


• Experience in a related field is preferred but not required.


• Must Possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL.


• Motor Vehicle Record adheres to TLG MVR Guidelines.
