Job summary

The Larson Group Peterbilt is seeking an experienced Diesel Service Technician to join our team in Illinois. This role performs diagnostic and mechanical repairs on heavy-duty trucks under minimal supervision and emphasizes safety and accuracy.

You will document repair steps, manage parts availability, and maintain equipment and tools. A Class A CDL is required or you must obtain it during employment; training targets are set, and advancement opportunities exist within a safety‑mensitive

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• Trade school certificate or degree is preferred but not required.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Experience in a related field is preferred but not required.
• Motor Vehicle Record adheres to MVR guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic/mechanical repairs on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components. Tests repairs to ensure proper completion.
• Follow safety rules and company policies at all times.
• Communicate to Service Foreman regarding parts availability for repairs.
• Download and save to Paccar Solutions/Decisiv: all pictures, engine files, and diagnostics used.
• Record in detail the troubleshooting steps and results of repairs.
• Save warrantable parts and label/box them with repair order number and customer information.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and return tools after use.
• Advise the next shift's technicians with any special instructions or concerns.
• Maintain efficiency and productivity goals set by the Service Manager.
• Acquire and retain a Peterbilt CDL training percentage of 95%.
• Perform other duties and repairs as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Performs diagnostic/mechanical repairs on heavy-duty truck equipment and related components. Testing when completed to ensure repairs are completed properly.
• Follow safety rules and company policies always.
• Communicate to Service Foreman regarding parts that are not available for repairs.
• Download and save to Paccar Solutions/Decisiv: all pictures, engine files (before and after repair), and diagnostic test used to perform repair.
• Record in detail, the description of all trouble shooting steps and results of repairs made and any other information about the repair.
• Save all warrantable parts. Tag, wash, box and turn in to correct location. Labels the box with repair order number, S/N, customer name and date.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area. Clean and return tools used.
• Advise the following shift's technicians with any special instructions or concerns you found when repairing truck.
• Maintain efficiency and productivity goals set forth by Service Manager.
• Maintain Peterbilt online training percentage of 95%.
• Obtain class A or B CDL and retain during employment.
• Perform other duties and repairs as assigned.

• A college degree or a certificate or degree from a trade school is preferred, but not required.
• Experience in a related field is preferred but not required.
• Must Possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Motor Vehicle Record adheres to TLG MVR Guidelines.
