Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company in Kinston, NC, is seeking a Serviceman (Shop) to service and maintain heavy diesel equipment and trucks. The role includes operating a service truck in the field and performing diagnostics and repairs in the shop as needed.

Qualified candidates have 2 years of automotive or diesel experience, a Class B CDL with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements, a valid medical card, and a reliable, safety‑minded attitude. Must be 21+ and able to work long hours.

Qualifications

• 2 years of automotive or diesel experience preferred or a vocational or technical certification or combination of education and experience.
• CDL Class B with Tanker and Hazmat Endorsements required.
• Valid Medical card.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Working knowledge of hand tools.
• Must be a reliable team player with a good attendance and safety record.

Responsibilities

• Operate a service truck and perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of diesel equipment and trucks.
• Keep radiators clean and check cooling systems and anti-freeze levels.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and monitor tires and fluids.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, including oil and filter changes.
• Work long shifts with safety and regulatory compliance.
