City of Denton in Denton, Texas seeks a skilled mechanic to repair and maintain gasoline and diesel-powered cars, trucks, and refuse collection equipment.

You will perform complex diagnostics, servicing, and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty chassis, refuse bodies, pumps, and hydraulics, ensuring DOT/OSHA compliance.

Must have ASE certification, four years of experience, and CDL within six months; you will follow safety policies and maintain detailed records while collaborating with a team.

Qualifications

• Four years of automotive/heavy-duty/refuse vehicle repair experience.
• Must have ASE Certification.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain Class B within six months.
• Must obtain Texas Safety and Emission Certification within six months and ASE T-series within 18 months.

Responsabilités

• Perform complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diagnostic work on refuse collection vehicles, including heavy-duty chassis and bodies.
• Perform advanced diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, DEF components, and high-pressure hydraulics.
• Troubleshoot CAN-bus, lighting, cameras, sensors, and GPS wiring.
• Install and configure equipment such as in-car video, radios, and GPS units.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and safety inspections per DOT/OSHA and manufacturer specs.
• Maintain records of work, parts used, and labor hours in Fleet Management software.
• Fabricate minor structural repairs and welding for upfit needs.
