Job summary

Ventura County Community College District is seeking instructors for part-time pool positions in Diesel Mechanics. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for future consideration for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 semesters at Ventura College and districtwide locations in Ventura County, CA.

Non-contract/temporary instructors may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment; duties include classroom instruction, advising, assessment, and participation in committees as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills amongst students.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services and resources as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes; provide timely feedback to student inquiries in class, online, or during office hours.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize learning; implement performance objectives as listed on the course outline of record.
• Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, progress, and outcomes; prepare data and reports related to course and progress in a timely manner.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials to ensure timely delivery.
• Revise and update course content in line with new theory and industry developments.
• Update syllabi; collaborate with faculty to assess and revise measurable indicators.
• Participate in curriculum and program development; input into student outcomes.
• Attend meetings and participate on committees; partake in articulation and matriculation activities
• Provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned.
