Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet in Hillsboro, TX. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations.

The role requires 1 year of diesel technician experience, ownership of basic tools, and a valid driver's license. Overtime applies after 40 hours, with weekly pay and competitive benefits after the probationary period.

Qualifications

1 year of experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
Must own a personal set of basic tools.
Valid Driver's License required.
Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic/air brake systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
Repair and maintain specialized waste equipment (compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lift systems).
Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company standards.
Maintain clean and accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and adhere to OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
