Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic in Houston to maintain and repair our waste and recycling fleet. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and major repairs on refuse trucks to ensure safe and reliable operations.

Shifts run 3pm–3am, Monday–Friday, with immediate overtime after 40 hours and potential Saturday daytime rotation. Valid driver’s license and own tools required; DOT and OSHA safety standards enforced.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year experience as a diesel technician/mechanic.
Own a personal set of basic mechanics tools.
Valid Driver's License required.
Knowledge of hydraulics, air brakes, diesel engines, and electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, and air brake systems.
Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using diagnostic software and tools.
Repair and maintain waste equipment such as compressors, hydraulic cylinders, automated arms, and lifting systems.
Conduct safety inspections to ensure DOT and company standards compliance.
Maintain accurate work orders and fleet maintenance records.
Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow OSHA and DOT safety protocols.
